8 Last-Minute Facebook Tactics For #GivingTuesday
In a few days – right after #BlackFriday and CyberMoney, the internet will be buzzing with #GivingTuesday. Even the White House is talking about it! And if you’re one of the 7,837 participating #GivingTuesday partners, you’ve probably put together a solid game plan.
Even so, in the thick of the hustle and bustle of year-end fundraising, you’re bound to miss a few details around your plan for Facebook.
Here are a few last-minute tips and tactics for your Facebook Page:
- Use the Hashtag – Use the hashtag #GivingTuesday. Don’t write “Giving Tuesday”. This will help create exposure for your campaign when Facebook users click on this hashtag.
- Monitor your Facebook Page – If you’ve planned well, you’ll be in the weeds on Tuesday. And you don’t want to miss comments and posts from other on your Page. Make sure you’re getting notifications about your Page’s activity, and add your Facebook Page to your favorites on your Facebook homepage.
- Turn on Messages – If you don’t use the messages turned on for your Page, you’ll want to turn it on for #GivingTuesday (Edit Page . Edit Settings > Messages). This way, if people are trying to reach you – or have an issue or complaint – they can more easily contact you on their terms.
- Let in the #GivingTuesday love – If you haven’t already done so, make sure Facebook users can post pictures and videos to your Page – especially if you’re having a #GivingTuesday with people taking pictures.
- Publish awesome content – This can’t be stressed enough. Analyze your most recent top posts for the most engaging topics. Mix together those topics with these sample Facebook updates (try to write these posts in advance).
- Boost your best performing posts – Pay close attention to the engagement rate of your #GivingTuesday posts. Boost the posts that have a higher-then-average engagement rate. Even better if you use the Power Editor to more effectively target your updates (if you don’t know how to use the Power Editor, bow’s not the time to learn. Boosting a high-performing post will do just fine. And chances are, friends of fans will be less likely to mark a #GivingTuesday update as spam when it’s a positive trending topic.
- Give your Facebook Page an email blast – The time to start engaging your community (subscribers, donors, volunteers) about #GivingTuesday was at least two weeks ago. That said, if you haven’t done anything yet, all is not lost. Send an email about your #GivingTuesday event, focusing primarily on your top-performing #GivingTuesday posts. For example, you could ask your email subscribers to comment on a particular #GivingTuesday photo that’s already received lots of comments.
- Update your Cover – Update your cover image highlighting your campaign and the #GivingTuesday logo. You can make a Facebook cover fairly quickly over at PicMonkey, or just steal this one.
